Tesla introduced the Tesla Installer Performance Score, known as TIPS, to measure installation-partner performance across technical delivery and customer experience.
This article records the framework described in Tesla's November 2025 installer material. Current scores, metric definitions and partner benefits should be checked in Tesla's restricted installer systems because the program can change after publication.
Framework described in the 2025 guide
The reference guide combined an installer average with customer satisfaction:
| Company score component | Published weighting |
|---|---|
| Installer average | 80% |
| Customer satisfaction | 20% |
The installer average was calculated from four operational metrics:
| Installer metric | Published weighting | 2025 guide description |
|---|---|---|
| Installer certification | 22.5% | Completion of the Powerwall 3 final exam in Tesla Workforce Management |
| Device commissioning tests | 26.25% | Backup, internet and metering tests completed within 48 hours |
| Device diagnostics | 26.25% | Early operation without identified load, solar disconnection or wiring errors |
| Customer activation | 25% | System registration and customer app login completed within seven days |
The second row shows the internal composition of the installer average. Its percentages are not percentage points of the overall company score. This is a dated record of Tesla's November 2025 framework.
Data table
| Breakdown | Component | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Company score | Installer average | 80% |
| Company score | Customer satisfaction | 20% |
| Installer average | Installer certification | 22.5% |
| Installer average | Commissioning tests | 26.25% |
| Installer average | Device diagnostics | 26.25% |
| Installer average | Customer activation | 25% |
Tesla's guide described customer satisfaction as the post-installation survey result converted to a 100-point scale.
Operational meaning
The framework linked partner performance to records created during ordinary installation delivery. A complete workflow therefore needed to cover:
- technician certification before allocation
- accurate installation and metering configuration
- completion of required commissioning tests
- early diagnostic review
- prompt customer registration and app access
- customer handover and after-sales follow-up
These measures overlap, but they are not interchangeable. A system can pass commissioning while customer activation remains incomplete, or achieve timely activation while an early diagnostic issue still requires correction.
Use the current partner record
The 2025 guide described staged access through Tesla account managers, the Partner Portal and Tesla One. Installers should use the current dashboard and partner documentation when making operational decisions.
The percentages above should not be treated as a current commercial term without confirmation. They are retained as a dated record of the framework communicated in November 2025.
